Proven teaching methods, personalised for your child.
Professional Support
With over a decade of experience teaching in some of the UK’s leading academic schools, I offer one-to-one English tuition for 11+, 13+, Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE and IGCSE), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level).
Alongside my work as an experienced teacher and key-stage co-ordinator, I have examined for multiple exam boards, including AQA GCSE English Literature (2019, 2022, 2025, 2026), AQA English Language (20226) and OCR GCSE English Language (2024, 2025). Last year, I was rated Outstanding by OCR for the quality of assessment.

Lesson Planning
Tuition typically begins with a baseline assessment. Marked work, school reports and feedback from Parent’s Evenings further inform this pre-assessment. If appropriate, I can even liaise with your child’s school teacher if possible.
Lessons then begin in earnest: typically we review homework and prior learning, breakdown new concepts, model their application, introduce writing scaffolds, progress toward independent writing, before reviewing progress and future targets at the end of the session.
All my students receive a termly report, comprising both a numerical grade, as well as a comment on progress and a target to inform next steps. As your child’s teachers will tell you, progress in English takes time - and it will likely take more than a term to see tangible progress - but regular communication and correspondence will keep you informed each step of the way.
I offer both 1:1 support, as well as group tuition. The former offers personalised, individual support; the latter opens up engagement and discussion, whilst keeping the advantages of a small group.

Technology and Resources
I typically use Google Meet and Google Classroom to arrange meetings and share documents, as well as to offer resources. Lessons are recorded to allow students to review the material afterward.
I also Loom to offer video feedback on student work, allowing for a more personalised and engaging experience when giving feedback on assessed work.
There are a wide range of online resources that I use to make lessons engaging, such as Magic Whiteboards for questioning, Kahoot! for recall and shared document editing for modelling and co-editing responses.
Given the way that Artificial Intelligence is changing the world, I also keep up to date with the ways in which AI is used in education. Nonetheless, relationships, the creative imagination and the spontaneity of human discussion are a core part of my tutoring - and not something a Chatbot will replace.

Additional Services
Marking
In addition to my standard offer of one piece of weekly homework, I can offer additional marking, as well as additional assessment points at the end of each term or half-term. English Departments often struggle with the sheer volume of marking, but private tutoring can offer an effective solution to this problem.
Data Tracking Mock Examinations
I can also offer additional mock examinations, either before your child’s GCSE mock exams, or after them in the Easter break,. I have prior experience with designing mock examination papers for use in school as key stage co-ordinator, ranging from 11+ all the way up to A-Level.
Practice makes perfectReaching your potential University Guidance
As a Sixth Form Tutor, I have written references, given practice interviews for Oxbridge candidates, and provided enrichment lectures. I am available to give advice on personal statements, ELAT preparation, interview practice, as well as suggestions for wider reading.
