Wellbeing, Privacy and Pastoral Care

Alongside academic goals and targets, my teaching career has taught me about the primacy of pastoral care. Alongside the importance of language analysis and punctuation for effect, students might also encounter problems with revision strategies, homework timetables, confidence in English, not to mention their sleep, exercise and stress management. Having been a form tutor for 12 years and having taught both PSHCE and emotional-wellbeing, I understand the importance of a holistic education. Although my focus is academic, I spend the first few minutes of a session checking in with my students, building rapport and ensuring there aren’t any wider factors effecting their progress across the week.

Through the past twelve years of my teaching career, I have worked with hundreds of students with SEND, including dyslexia, ADHD and autism. I have nurtured and supported students with anxiety, depression and other complex emotional needs. I have taught and tutored many international students, for whom English was an additional language (EAL). I have also set work for students that have been home schooled, who went on to achieve brilliant grades in their final exams. Alongside this, I have worked closely with learning support departments and pastoral teams to provide the highest standards of student care.

I hold an Enhanced DBS check with a regular renewal cycle. My Terms and Conditions are supported by a comprehensive safeguarding policy and clear lesson safety protocols, designed to provide reassurance that students are taught in a safe and secure environment. In addition to extensive pastoral training undertaken during my teaching career, I am a member of The Tutors’ Association and adhere to its Code of Practice.

Data privacy is a priority in the delivery of online tuition. I am fully GDPR compliant and take the handling and protection of personal data seriously.
